Fandango offers ticket purchases from 15,000 theaters across the U.S., while Movies.com focuses more on content: reviews, DVD release information, etc. Fandango has already expanded its ticket sale service to Movies.com as of today.
Disney says no layoffs will result from the sale. The exact terms of the deal, however, are not being released.

According to Apple itself, NAB rumours that it wants to unload Final Cut Pro and other post products are wide of the mark,” Dick Hobbs reports for TVBEurope.
“‘I can categorically state, on the record, that is not the case,’ said Richard Townhill, Apple’s director of marketing for professional video applications, going on to reveal that recently Apple hit the milestone of one million paid licences for Final Cut Pro. According to research specialist SCRI, in 2007 Apple took 49% of the US professional editing marketing with Avid trailing on just 22%,” Hobs reports.
Earlier today, the Associated Press launched an iPhone-optimized news site that really is pleasant to use. To check it out on your iPhone simply visit http://apnews.com. Once there you’ll find AP articles, of course, but also local events (in fact, you can enter several zip codes and follow events from several locations) and more from many different outlets.
The preference pane looks like that of a native iPhone application (Save the orange sliders instead of blue) and the photos and videos render pretty quickly, even over EDGE. Plus, they’ve got a cute web clip icon. What more do you need?
It’s nice to see the AP catering to mobile users. We say, “Well done.”
In a study just published by Britain’s Which? Computing magazine, alarming levels of dangerous bacteria and other gross-out biological matter was found on many computer keyboards. A microbiologist examined and measured bacteria levels on 33 keyboards in a office, and one was found to be five times dirtier than the office toilet seat, carrying 150 times the acceptable limit of bacteria. Two others had ‘warning’ levels of bacteria, and a further two had elevated levels of coliform, which is usually associated with fecal matter.
Eating at your desk along with poor personal hygiene are primarily responsible for these problems, so it might make sense to invest in some kind of cleaning device. Some have also said that you can actually wash a standard keyboard in your dishwasher as long as you remove it before it melts in the dry cycle, but don’t take my word for it.
